Sequencing & pattern makings are introduced as early as in preschool. It starts with basic AB pattern for eg: red, green, red, green, red & green. AB pattern can be anything starting like numbers(1,2,1,2,1,2), alphabets(A,B,A,B,A,B), colors(red,blue,red,, shapes(circle, triangle, circle,triangle,circle,triangle), etc. But introducing the concept with colors is ideal for preschoolers as its appealing and fun to play along.

recognizing patterns is also an early math skill inclucated to to further learn about more complex maths concepts as they grow. This free printable activity would be a good start to teach the kids pattern concept in a fun way. Here, we have included all possible pattern types & activities so that the kids would have the opportunity to practice more and more.

Basic Dot-A-Dot marker patterns:
Things needed:
Do a Dot markers
Paper & printer
Laminator(is you have toddlers, for older kids you can just cut the pattern strips)

The activity covers some some colored pattern which you need to cut and use as pattern cards which the child needs to copy and follow on the blank sheet provided.

The patterns included in the worksheets are AB, AAB, ABB and ABC.

The other activity includes unfinished patterns which the child has to guess based on the pattern and complete. They can also try and guess the pattern name.

Some advance Dot-A-Dot marker copy patterns:
There are some advanced pattern sheets that are very good for spatial and visual discrimination activity. The child needs to see the kind of color and its respective placement in a 3*4 matrix.
